Biography

Yury Vasilyevich Morozov (6 March 1948 – 23 February 2006) was a Leningrad sound engineer and rock musician, a friend of Andrey Tropillo.

Yury Vasilyevich Morozov (6 March 1948 – 23 February 2006) was a Leningrad sound engineer and rock musician, a friend of Andrey Tropillo. From 1972 he worked at the Leningrad Melodiya recording studio, engineered DDT, took part in Aquarium recordings and those of many other bands, and Russian Wikipedia lists him among those who worked on Oblachny Kray's albums.

In 1990 he recorded Svobody Zahoteli? at the Leningrad recording studio, in the building of St Catherine's Lutheran church. Bogaev remembers him as a "magnificent partner and like-minded person" and an "older comrade"; Wikipedia names Morozov and Bogaev as the album's producers. From autumn 2000 Morozov's own records were released on Tropillo's AnTrop.

After his death a sound engineers' contest named after him appeared (in 2007 Bogaev made the top ten and Igor Plenov won a prize), as did the compilation Yuriy Morozovu - A Tribute (AnTrop, 2007). Ygyatta contains the song Kretin, a tribute to the Yu. Morozov Band. He is buried at the Serafimovskoe cemetery.
