An English summary of the memoir of Alexey Drumkitch (the community "Podtankovskaya Gvardiya", 5 September 2020), published with the source named; the full text is in Russian on the Russian page. An overview of the festival itself is in The V rock festival in Arkhangelsk, 28 February – 1 March 1987.
During the first official rock festival in Arkhangelsk, held under the Solombala district Komsomol committee at the Krasnaya Kuznitsa culture palace on 1 March 1987, the author unexpectedly became an assistant sound engineer. The main engineer was Sergey Bogaev, the leader of Oblachny Kray, who ran the sound on a 12-channel "Elektronika" desk. Before the set of Sergey Khokhryakov and his "Mystic Union" Bogaev found him in the foyer, set up the guitar and voice, showed the channels and the reverb settings and went off for a snack — according to Bogaev's own account, the "rock-and-roll buffet" on a windowsill upstairs also included Oleg Rautkin and Alisa's leader Konstantin Kinchev. In 1984 the author and Bogaev had already devised a scheme for recording two concerts of the Arkhangelsk band Stsena.
Later Bogaev asked him to run the sound for the art-rock trio Zapasnoy Vykhod (keyboardist Alexander Sukhanov, drummer Alexander Pastukhov, bass player Andrey "Andy" Lukin), and joined them on guitar in their closing number. Andy had put up Alisa's trumpeter Andrey Vasiliev and bass player Pyotr Samoylov at his home, and borrowed Samoylov's Yamaha bass for his sets with Zapasnoy Vykhod, Stsena and Autodafe; the rest of Alisa slept in Oblachny Kray's recording studio in the annex of the culture palace, on pushed-together speaker cabinets covered with sheepskin coats.
Kinchev and Samoylov, who heard Bogaev's guest part from the first floor, told the author that his sound was better than Bogaev's and asked him to work Alisa's set together with Bogaev (the author took the vocal backing and the trumpet, Bogaev everything else; Kinchev's instruction was "the main thing is the voice and the drums"). After Alisa's first song the audience jumped to its feet, so the sound engineers also had to work standing. Kinchev invited the saxophonist and flautist of Stsena and Blues-Inspector (spelled "Lashin" in the text, evidently Lapshin) to play a solo in "Vozdukh". The author calls Alisa's performance that evening the best of all their concerts he ever heard.
