1987 - Concert in Podolsk (DVD-video + CD-audio)

In September 1987, the musicians set the stage on fire at the Podolsk-87 youth rock festival in the Moscow suburb of Podolsk, arguably becoming its main stars. Defiantly screaming, Rautkin ran across the stage swinging a microphone stand over his head, and at the finale, having broken two strings on his guitar, Sergei Bogaev began smashing it to pieces in front of three thousand spectators, just like his idol from Deep Purple, Ritchie Blackmore.

The last band before the daytime break was OBLACHNY KRAI from Arkhangelsk. This band was, and remains, highly respected in the right circles. Later on, I became such good friends with Seryoga Bogaev, the main songwriter and guitarist of Oblachny Krai, that I sometimes had a burning desire to throttle him. But that was later. Back then, we simply listened with joy. Andrei Tropillo was probably right when he said that OBLACHNY KRAI was the only true hard rock band in the Soviet Union.

At the end, Seryoga grabbed his Ural guitar by the neck and slammed it hard against the stage. Just like Pete Townshend of The Who! But the Ural, despite sounding crappy, was a sturdy instrument—it withstood the first blow. So Seryoga tried again. This time, the neck almost snapped right off the body. And after the third strike, it snapped off completely, and our rock star left the stage satisfied.

P.S. I should say that later he glued the neck back onto the guitar and continued playing it for several more years... Oleg Kovriga (Zvuki.ru)
