Pale-Faced as a Dog
Bastard's Fate · 1984 · Track 8
The stars stare in silence
Bare shadows loom
By the old bathhouse
Someone is weeping bitterly
Weeping from grief, or perhaps
Perhaps weeping from happiness
Gnawing and biting their elbows
Painfully biting their wrists
The walls of the old bathhouse
Having drunk their fill of moisture, have gone soft
Semi-transparent drops
Quietly trickle down them
A cretin's brains cannot
The brains cannot comprehend
How to leap over this slippery barrier
This slippery barrier
Absolutely pale-faced
Pale-faced as a dog
Suddenly a face appears
In the doorway
And instantly two stars
Two stars in the constellation of Cancer
Will extinguish the light
In their nocturnal heavenly home
