My Afghanistan
Concert at MEI · 1987 · Track 2
Like tender maiden shoulders,
The rounded shapes of minarets.
A land of friendly, courageous, and proud people.
Here, into a tight thread,
The languages of different nations are woven,
Here, into a tight thread, contradictions are woven.
My Afghanistan is the pride of Muslims,
The Quran is honored and respected here.
My Afghanistan holds the Quran sacredly -
Meaning it is the pride of Muslims.
In the mornings over beloved Kabul,
Flashes of light blaze across half the sky -
It is the sun unfurling its lashes.
And in defiance of any enemies,
A new day strides toward us,
A new day strides toward us irrevocably.
Beware, Dushman, tremble, Dushman,
I will not surrender Afghanistan to you.
Like Azerbaijan, like Uzbekistan,
I will defend Afghanistan.
