It feels like the band only exists in theory. The website was last updated in May :(
Reply: The band Oblachny Krai has always been more of a studio project, because it never fit into any formats or frameworks of the so-called Russian rock, which it does not belong to. Sergey Bogayev has always been and remains an uncompromising man in his art, and he has never made any concessions to the moneybags, nor will he in the future. The band OK is the only band of this scale that hasn't sold out and hasn't catered to the shitty show business. Otherwise, you understand yourself what one can turn into. You can see for yourselves what many bands who started out playing rock in our country have turned into. Because of this, we have to not only record and play music, but also work, as we have children and families whom we love, but no money to support them, since no one sponsors us. And during the summer season, we are rarely in the city, which is why the website and work barely progress. Most of the activity happens in the autumn, winter, and spring. Respectfully, the band's manager Igor Plenov.

Are you planning to upload any tracks from the new albums to the website?

The albums "Damaged Reality" and "Secrets of the Universe" are instrumental, so when can we expect new songs? And who will be the vocalist? Are there any chances of hearing Oleg Rautkin?
Reply: The chances of hearing Oleg Rautkin are zero. S. Bogayev will be the vocalist. Check the website news in the "Blog" section.

OK is one of my favorite bands in Russian rock, alongside DK, Oborona, and Mukhomor. It's a pity that the youth, mostly coming from heavy rock, listen to all sorts of stuff like Aria or Epidemia, instead of Oblachny Krai. Come visit us in Voronezh, we'll be waiting.
Reply: Thanks for the invitation! Maybe someday we will come visit you. I. Plenov

Igor, what level of financial assistance would help with releasing the albums? Is it tens, hundreds of thousands of rubles, or more? I think this high-level information will help people offer their help.

As long as Sergey Bogayev is alive, Oblachny Krai must, and I believe will, live on and please its audience. A new album must absolutely be released, which will dot the i's, so that everyone who thinks the band is only alive in theory can finally rest easy. I'd like to point out one special feature of OK. All the albums released by OK are not a rehash of previous ones, but completely different music, yet listening to them, you still feel the signature OK sound. That's pure class!
So, like everyone else, I am waiting for the new OK album. But I'll say it again to everyone - let's do something, whatever is in our power, to help the band OK release the album as quickly as possible!!! I, for example, live in Moscow. Write to me, let's hear your suggestions.

I support what Igor Plenov wrote about Oblachny Krai and the state of Russian rock. I went to the festival in Emmaus last year, but I didn't go this year because the lineup is pretty much the same, and there are simply no bands on the level of Oblachny Krai. Well, technically they do exist, but for a number of reasons they don't play at festivals and you never hear them on the radio, whereas they endlessly play Tsoi and others on the radio instead. It just makes you sick. Oblachny Krai and its enigmatic leader Sergei Bogaev are a whole separate chapter in heavy rock. We need to create a fund made up of connoisseurs of this Great band's work. The goal of the fund is to release albums, support the website, and organize concerts. For my part, I am ready to participate in this fund and transfer money every month - as much as I can. If we have at least 10-15 people, we will be able to provide tangible help to the band and release the albums that haven't been released on CD yet. Think about it: we are all going to die someday and we will soon be forgotten, but the magnificent music of Oblachny Krai will remain, and people will listen to it, and we will all be part of it, indirectly involved in the art of OK.

Because the band refuses to compromise with the show-business types, they naturally keep us completely silenced in rock magazines, rock encyclopedias, CD compilations, and of course on the radio and TV. When you open modern, thoroughly corrupt publications, you get the impression that a band like Oblachny Krai with its badass albums simply never existed, and if they do remember them, they inevitably get the titles, release years, and number of albums wrong, as well as the year the band was formed. And of course, they call this absolute, ultimate ROCK BAND punks and place them on such a level as if the band supposedly had zero influence on rock music in our country. Despite the fact that the godfather of our rock, the respected A. Gradsky, has repeatedly called OK the only band in our country that plays real rock, and not a surrogate called "Russian rock." I will say, of course, that we have had, and still do have, genuine rock bands, but they aren't favorites here because, according to TV hosts, DJs, and all sorts of similar "critics," they are "out of format." These douchebags shove their shitty FORMAT down our throats, and naturally, the youth listens to this talentless garbage blasting from every channel and station, because it's been "paid for." I have reached out to various CD publishers, offering to release Oblachny Krai, fully restored, with the author's original artwork and the complete author's versions of the albums, but everywhere I go it's either empty promises, a hard "no," or these bastards just ignore you, which is the standard nowadays. Therefore, if anyone can help with releasing OK's albums financially or in any other way, we would be incredibly grateful! Please write to me at: Plenoff@mail.ru The band's manager, Igor Plenov.

As I understood from the info on the site, a reissue of ALL albums is planned. When (approximately) is this supposed to happen?
Answer: Due to the crisis at the ANTROP companies, the album reissues are delayed indefinitely. I. Plenov.

Here's what I want to say: I've been with Oblachny Krai since 1984, and what the guys did on the latest albums, namely Damaged Reality (March 2007)
Secrets of the Universe (January 2007)
Branch of Paradise (2008)
Zoocide (2008)
and The Wedding Metal M. (February 2007)
is the logical continuation of what was started back in distant 1980 !!! RESPECT AND HUGE PROPS TO YOU!!! we are with you*_-

Romario! On the Antrop studio website, you can listen to the track "Aria of the Varangian Guests", which will be included in the new OK album. It's really awesome. True, this recording is somewhat different from the final version that Sergei Bogayev gave me as a gift in the summer when I was in St. Petersburg. Maybe the recording on the Antrop website has been updated by now, I haven't checked. But in any case, I highly recommend everyone to listen to it. It IS worth it.

Holy crap! OK IS ALIVE!!!!! I didn't know, guys, thank you, where to buy, and even more unexpectedly - where to go, where to see? In 2005 I tried to find at least one mention on the net about OK, I found.... half of it... same with Mukhomor... I always said that we had a band cooler than AC/DC - and that's OK!!! I'm ready to sponsor the CDs, but only if it makes sense, Cyrill write to me. WHERE TO BUY THE LATEST CDS? ACTUALLY, I WANT THEM ALL!

Friends! Yesterday I stumbled upon a website where unique recordings, apparently videos from festivals including Podolsk '87, where Oblachny Krai performed powerfully and convincingly, have been posted. Besides, there are recordings of Autodafe there - another awesome Arkhangelsk band that is not active anymore, which is a pity. I couldn't download them because of computer issues. If you manage to download them (the link is at the top of my message), then please write back.

Nikolai! The cost of releasing one album in 500 copies is about $1500-2000. Therefore, in my opinion, it is quite affordable for 10-15 people. I am sure Igor Plenov will confirm this figure. So, I am saying once again that I am ready to participate in the project for releasing OK albums.
Author: Kolya (October 8, 2008, 11:07)
Igor, thanks for the comments. I will definitely listen to the restored sound. But "Stremya i lyudi" struck a chord with me not just because of the "Russian rock" sound. Rather, it's more about the overall quality of the compositions. And because all of them fall into the category of masterpieces by my (admittedly amateur) standards. There aren't that many masterpieces on the other albums. This is the reason for my special love for this album.
I wanted to ask - in what format will the restored discs be released: just a plastic case with standard artwork, or something more like a digipak release? I understand this is fetishism, but personally, I really enjoy holding decent records in specialized packaging. Also, what does "with author's covers" mean?
Thanks!

Dim, hi! I want to say that the early albums of O.K. are no worse than the albums of the Leningrad period, which begins with *Ublyuzhya Dolya*. Unfortunately, in the edition they were released in, the sound was complete shit, because they were very nominally restored. They were released from whatever tapes could be found at short notice. For 1983, they couldn't even find a recording of approximately decent quality. O.K.-I, *Velikaya Garmoniya*, and *Vershina Idiotizma* were heavily cut, with several tracks removed so they could fit onto split albums. Within a month, as I was promised, you will have the opportunity to listen to the albums in restored sound on the 1000 Plastinok website, including the rarities with *Aria Varyazhskikh Gostey*. By the way, regarding the album *Lyubov k Zhizni*, I want to say that it is masterfully crafted both musically and lyrically; it's a very mature work! The discs for *Ublyuzhya Dolya*, *Stremya i Lyudi*, and *Svobody Zakhoteli* have already been requested and are being printed at the factory, so in about 2 weeks they will be ready. The next stage will be our release of the albums *Kontsert v Podolske 1987*, *O.K. 1991*, and *Lyubov k Zhizni* in restored sound and with author's covers. Best regards, Igor Plenov.

Dim, "Aria Varyazhskikh Gostey" will soon appear on the Antrop website in its latest version, where you can listen to it. I simply don't have the right to distribute this recording via the internet, because it is officially unreleased and I received it directly from Bogayev as a gift. We have to wait for the album's release. By the way, I read that this track was released on the *Antropologiya* compilation, where Tropillo included "Aria Varyazhskikh Gostey" along with other groups, although I think that's not the latest version; I haven't heard it myself, so I won't make things up.

And I like the first two albums. They might not be as professional, but they are the most positive. I'm probably just tired of the depressing stuff that's always present in Russian rock. But Kray is such positive energy, even in their heaviest songs.

Hello Nikolai! I want to say a few words regarding *Stremya i Lyudi* (*Stirrup and People*). This album is neither better nor worse than the others. It's just that, in terms of sound, it is closer to so-called Russian rock, and of course, it has been heavily promoted. After the remastering, when you listen to the rest of the albums, you'll realize that there are albums even stronger than this one! By the way, Sergey Bogaev said back in a 1996 interview that he doesn't consider this album to be the best or unsurpassed; you can read that interview if you want. But the album is still good! It's just that many people obsess over it without carefully listening to the other albums, which, unfortunately, were released incompletely and with terrible sound quality in previous editions! Something we have successfully fixed. With respect, Igor Plenov.
Author: Cyrill (30 September 2008, 19:09)
Kolya, Igor Plenov recorded the remastered albums for me, and three of them: *Ubluzhya Dolya* (*Jacks' Lot*), *Stremya i Lyudi* (*Stirrup and People*), and *Svobody Zakhoteli* (*Wanted Freedom*), have already been sent to the manufacturing plant and will be on sale very soon. You'll be able to buy them in stores or directly. By the way, in Moscow, you can still find the album *Stremya i Lyudi*, but unremastered, in a very nice, beautiful cardboard Digipak packaging with a booklet inside. I have a copy.
Author: Kolya (30 September 2008, 18:55)
Cyrill, I want to understand whether the remastering has been completed or not, rather than expressing my disapproval regarding the fact that it will require additional finances. And that's all :)
P.S. I consider *Stremya i Lyudi* to be the strongest album. Moreover, by a significant margin over the others.
Author: Cyrill (30 September 2008, 12:48)
I thought for a long time about which Oblachny Krai (OK) album I like more than the others and why. *Lyubov k Zhizni* (*Love for Life*) is perhaps my favorite official OK album. Absolutely unlike all the others in terms of the complexity and beauty of the music, featuring the use of a saxophone and the most gorgeous solos performed by Bogaev. Only Oblachny Krai can sound like this; no other Russian / Soviet band has ever sounded, or sounds, like this. This music is expressive and, at the same time, melodic, standing out sharply against the background of everything else currently playing on the airwaves. In a word, Bogaev outdid himself on *Lyubov k Zhizni* – his music is as amazing and unfathomable as the man himself. This album is, in my opinion, the strongest musically, and generally speaking, I like it more than the cult OK albums of the 1980s. It is a sort of culmination album for OK, in which everything is done masterfully....
Author: Cyrill (September 26, 2008, 15:22)
Kolya, nobody is forcing anyone to take part in the voluntary endeavor of releasing albums. It's everyone's personal choice. You can just go to some store and buy a low-quality recording, or you can wait for the restored albums to be released and buy them. And that's that...

You do.
Do you know, gentlemen, that weddings are celebrated and lonely tears are shed to your songs?
You do.
That's right!
The song "Sad Story" has already entered the annals! Once a manifestation of harsh irony, today it has transformed into fierce protest. Simply
put: what we fought for is what we stumbled upon. Today, this song sounds as a mirror opposite of the original, or rather, of the original's message. However,
the expression, the drive, the impact of this song continues to call people to the barricades! To the arena! To the stage! Yes... Indeed. Time seems to have passed, but the song, sung by fathers,
continues to live on in their children! They sing "Sad Story"! And girls cry... (though, more often, it's drunk guys who cry...) But the song lives on! And I, an old stump,
sing along with the youth: "I have caught fire with Lo-o-ove!".
Many. Many lofty words are bursting from the soul directed at you! Your great-great-grandchildren will be able to say that their ancestors "conquered" continents! And without
a single shot. With music! With art!
My great-great-grandchildren won't be able to (or won't want to) say that their ancestor was a plumber who left behind a leaky pipe and a dripping faucet (since nothing
lasts forever, and a dripping faucet is far more noticeable, frequent, and immediate than a work of art.

Who can argue with that?
Art wants to eat too.
Art consumes the regime of its time, while the creator consumes sausages and pelmeni.
You have undoubtedly remained in history... Tell me honestly, has it added any pelmeni to your plate?
Pushkin, Lermontov, Revyakin, Kichev... Everyone wants to EAT. They sing and dance FOR MONEY! By the way, that very same Pushkin couldn't even take a crap without an upfront payment!
So why did you decide that "Oblachny Krai" should play for them for free?
What in the world is going on?
Know this!
Thank you! You are closer to me than any "Kiss" or "Slade"!
May your music never possess the refinement of E.L.O.,
May your music never harbor the desire to build Khatanga and continue the construction of the BAM,

Sergey, hello!
I am 38 years old. I currently live in Moscow, but I was born and lived in Arkhangelsk in
the same building as Andrei Lukin, whom I knew, as well as his brother Dima.
The last time I ran into Dima by chance was in Moscow in the mid-90s on
Pushkinskaya Square.
I listen to OK almost every day, in the car and at home. I bought almost all the albums
on CD; the only ones I'm missing are Made in Vaneeva and the latest ones after "Patriot". I wanted
to find a DVD of the rock festival in Podolsk at Gorbushka, but they didn't have it.
What you've done is SUPER!!!
I was raised on the right music - rock music, I went to music
school for piano (I didn't finish, which I regret now, although I can still play).
I listened to everything: Pink Floyd, Deep Purple.... When I heard OK - it
turned EVERYTHING upside down!!!
There is no better music for me. My son is 8 years old. He listens to OK and he likes
it. I told him about the band and about you. He read the memoirs
about OK written by Alexei Vishnya - thanks to him for that. Sometimes
it seems that such music is simply impossible to compose, let alone play.
I recently went to a festival in Emmaus, and I've been to Krylya. But there is no music
like what OK makes. I asked some guys from St. Petersburg about OK. They said
they haven't heard anything about them in a long time, but they remember OK
as a Great band (I was talking to Alice fans, guys in their 40s). They told me that
OK apparently doesn't exist anymore. I told them that Sergey will still make his mark and put out something
that.....
I was at the festivals in '87 and '89. I remember OK, Autodafe, and Saint Louisa.
Where is Lyskovsky now? Is Rautkin still doing his thing in Ukraine? Will he
take part in recording the new albums? What's the deal with Budnik? I couldn't get my hands on any Autodafe recordings in Moscow. Maybe there are some in Arkhangelsk?
Sergey, I want to order all the OK albums (on CD), including the new ones after
"Patriot", and the DVD of OK's performance at the festival in Podolsk. If there are
any other video recordings, I want those too. I'd also like to ask for a photo of you
with an autograph.
I need the bank details so I can transfer the money.
I visit St. Petersburg, but rarely. I studied in Makarovka and lived in St. Petersburg for 5 years.
I have two favorite cities - Arkhangelsk and St. Petersburg.
If you're ever in Moscow, give me a call. I would be VERY happy to meet up, and my son
too. He asks me all the time if there will be new albums from Sergey?
Are any OK concerts planned, or will OK remain a studio band? I
would definitely come, no matter where, if there are OK shows.
What you do is simply SUPER! You have written your name in golden
letters into the history of Russian rock.
Thank you for being you and for writing such music, probably the very best rock music.
Best regards,

Simply SUPER SUPER!!!!
My name is Kirill Bakhmetev.
I live in Moscow, originally from Arkhangelsk.
I lived in the same building as Andrei Lukin at 6 Engelsa St. (6 Voskresenskaya St.), and I knew him and his brother Dima.
OK is my absolute favorite band. I love Autodafe. It's a shame you don't play at festivals, but you haven't been forgotten. Sergey, your music lives inside me, in my heart. I recently went to two festivals in Emmaus and Krylya. I asked about OK, but no one knew anything, they all just said...
I bought up all the OK CDs in Moscow and listen to them almost every day. Vishnya is great—I read the book about OK as retold by him. But I didn't believe it. I stumbled upon this site by chance and saw the new 2007 albums. I wanted to get in touch with Sergey, searched for info on the internet, but couldn't find anything back then. I wonder, is it possible to buy these albums in Moscow? Sergey, will there be any OK concerts? I looked for a DVD of the Podolsk festival at Gorbushka, but couldn't find one. It's AWESOME that OK was, is, and always will be! Recently I played the track "Poyekhali" (Selkhozrok) for an English friend of mine, and he was blown away. He couldn't believe that a Russian band in the early 80s could make something LIKE THAT. Sergey, I studied in St. Petersburg for 5 years (graduated from LVIMU (Makarovka)), I have a lot of friends there, and I try to visit St. Pete whenever I can. If you're ever in Moscow, give me a call, I'd be very happy to meet you.
WISHING YOU CREATIVE SUCCESS
Kirill Bakhmetev.

An article written for my band's website, but never published.
Galan.
Oblachny Krai is my favorite Soviet-era band. Specifically SOVIET-ERA, born at the turn of the 70s and 80s in the basements of Arkhangelsk. This was the time when I was just starting to find my own path through the labyrinths of heavy rock. On my older brother's cassettes—the main supplier of intellectual treasures—among the Boneyems, ABBA, and Arabesques, I started coming across equally worthy representatives of the Western music scene: "Judies", "Purples", "Leopards", "Scorpions", "Queens", "AC/DC"—my very first rockers.
The first Oblachny Krai album I ever heard was *Stremya i Lyudi*. It was passed on to me by my older friend and mentor Altra (also known as Traven – a guy who was heavily into the music scene back in the day, from my brother's circle). He had a massive impact on my life in general, which to this day remains inextricably linked to music. Later on, in '87, he helped me and Rocking (a school friend) record an album for my band at the time, "Plakha", and by '88 I was already pounding the drums in his ensemble, "Krasnye Napilniki" [Red Files]. I instantly became a massive fan of Krai! Over time, I managed to get my hands on almost all of their albums.
No underground band (and in '85, I can't recall any official groups besides "Mashina") hit me as hard as they did. My music collection included "Alliance", "Alfa", "Krug" (please don't confuse them with Mikhail), "Aquarium", "Alisa", and a few others—I can't remember them all now... But none of them were quite it... Krai, on the other hand, blew my freaking mind! Their clunky, unpolished, erratically stumbling hard rock (excluding the second half of the 80s)—featuring a bold, unrestrained, and sonically distinct guitar in the solos, despite the backyard-level playing skills, mixed with fat, "Hammond-esque" keyboard sounds—perfectly complemented the juicy, dashing Pomor howl that tore its way through the sonic thickets. Their hurrah-patriotic songs, with their pathetic chords, were permeated with a global mockery of the Soviet reality we were so lucky to live in back then. Leaning towards heavy rock, the dudes geeked out on all sorts of sound effects: they played back voices and instrument parts recorded on a tape recorder at different speeds and in different directions, squeezing all sorts of cosmic and otherworldly sounds out of their "Vermona" two-manual organ.
It was exactly the work of O.K. that instilled in me a love for experimentation, and I took the singing styles of Oleg Rautkin and Sergei Bogaev as the gold standard for vocals; anyone who knows Oblachny Krai and, less likely, our project with Jonik Nikitin, "Absolute Shit", has definitely noticed this.
Many of O.K.'s creations are overflowing with love lyrics: "All the diamonds in the world fade when a woman is undressed!" – feel the power? And their entire creative path is inlaid with similar pearls! - "..come on in, don't be shy, there's enough room here for everyone. Come on in, take your clothes off, God will forgive you this sin!"
"I remember in my childhood, when I was a little boy, I used to dream at night of kissing a girl!" Oh, how familiar all this is to an ordinary Soviet boy in distant '84—unspoiled by VCRs, DVDs, the internet (which didn't even exist back then), or porn magazines. And everything O.K. sings about is painfully familiar to me. They never detached their lyrics from the reality of those times. Everything they praised was happening on the streets of that era, in the offices of that era, with the very same ordinary citizens, bureaucrats, black marketeers, party apparatchiks, and so on and so forth... The Soviet symbolism they sketched out sits inside me indelibly. I've dragged it into the current era and, strangely enough, I sometimes even feel nostalgic for times past while listening to the howls of the Krai guys.
I've wanted to meet Bogayev my whole life. I dream of someday dropping a beat on their next album. "Love for Life" is really not bad! Keep it up, guys!
The city on the Dvina is known for its songs
It has surpassed all the capitals of the world
Various melodies were played here
Well, and we will play rock 'n' roll!

It's a shame that in those years I lived in Murmansk, we were neighbors with Arkhangelsk, but I never got to see them live. I only listened on poor quality tapes. Where are those 17 years? I'm already 41 now, but as soon as I turn it on, I get goosebumps, it still hits hard. A huge thanks to Sergey for his themes, and to Oleg for his powerful performance.

Hello Nikolai! Regarding the covers. The covers will come out exactly as Serezha Bogayev intended to make them—the fonts, photographs, etc. That is, the original versions, which at the time could not be produced for technical reasons due to the quality of the source material. Regarding the sound on the joint albums. It's hard to say categorically, but in general, for this style in which they were made, I personally like them. As for the rest, it's a matter for each person, depending on many factors. I can only say that Sergey and I made the top ten best sound engineers in St. Petersburg last year in the sound engineer competition named after Yu. Morozov, and received commemorative prizes. Regarding the number of masterpieces on the album, I personally like 1990 the best, both in terms of playing quality and the lyrics. And our covers will be very beautiful, not just in standard jewel cases; they will be released as a gift series for the band's 25th anniversary in super covers. Best regards, Igor.

Igor, one more question for you personally: how satisfied are you personally with the sound quality and overall tone that came out on the three albums made jointly with Bogayev ("Damaged Reality", "Branch of Paradise", "Secrets of the Universe")?

Dear Sergei, thank you for your work, I am a long-time fan of OK. A couple of questions about OK's new album, if I may:
1. Will there be any guest vocalists? Maybe some old colleagues from the scene? Or new monsters of chrome-plated throats?
2. Will there be any concerts, or perhaps a release presentation? To celebrate such an exceptional event.
3. Estimated release date? Working title?
Thank you, wishing you many years and creative music!
Reply: The questions have been passed on to Sergei, waiting for answers.

Igor, thanks for the answers!!!
First of all, I want to congratulate you and Sergei on making the top ten sound engineers! Although the value of my opinion isn't very high (I'm just an amateur music listener), I think you deserve to be on this honorary list!!! I hope you will continue to delight us with your work!!!
A bit of fetishism: the first O.K. discs, as I understand, have already been released. What about the rest? Which albums exactly will be reissued, and roughly when?
Music. From what's written on the website, I couldn't figure out whether you give concerts? Or does O.K.?
And one more request: unfortunately, I very rarely manage to find interesting music. Could you perhaps recommend something to listen to that you consider worthy?
Reply: Thank you for the greetings! I believe the value of every person's opinion is important to others; this is what our relationships are built upon. We will continue to delight you with new works, provided we are able to. The new release only includes the 3 CDs I wrote about; the rest we will gradually reissue. First of all, I think *Concert in Podolsk 1987*, *O.K.-1991*, and *Love for Life* will be released. Metal M. does not engage in live performances; it is purely a studio band. I cannot say anything regarding O.K., whether there will be live concerts or not—that is up to Sergey. As for worthy bands, we have many: Master, Kruger, Rossiiane, some material from Mify, Atlas, some tracks by Yu. Morozov, Korpus*2, St. Petersburg of Rekshan, Kruiz (metal), Chyorny Obelisk, E.S.T., Koma, and Raskolnikov. This is what I came up with off the top of my head. With respect, Igor.

Andy Bub-n-off - beautifully written about O.K.! I really liked it. Sergey Bogayev and O.K. are the last of the Mohicans of Russian, or if you prefer, Soviet metal!
It is very cool that there is a website and simply good people who come here to express their attitude towards O.K.'s work. There are many good bands, but O.K. is unique; it's awesome music that lives in the soul....

I was reading through the messages in the guestbook in my free time. I want to say this: what's the point of arguing or proving which albums by Kray are better or worse—they are all awesome, each in its own way. Besides, after reading on the *Journal of Inhuman Music* website about the new releases by the band Oblachny Kray and Metal M., I decided to order them and give them a listen. My impressions exceeded all expectations; I believe I have never heard anything like it before!!! It's so incredibly cool that it blew my mind, even while I was sober!!! Just like Metallica's early stuff, Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, and Pink Floyd did in their time, and of course, Kray himself! By the way, I want to note that I also really liked the separate METAL M. project! Massive respect and props to you guys!!! It's an absolute thrill that Kray is still alive and working in an incredibly cool new style!
Reply: Priyt, thank you very much for your understanding! When we made these albums, we were quite curious to see how they would be received and catch on with the people. Because they are rather complex, but for people who listen to classic rock, and not Russian rock where they call Kino 'true rock' and Alisa 'metal' (we have nothing against the work of these bands, but rather against those who distort the concept of rock music for the youth), we thought our new albums would be quite interesting—and we weren't wrong! Thank you very much for your attention. Sergey Bogayev, Igor Plenov.

Yes, Oblachny Krai doesn't sell out to the pop industry, and that's wonderful, even though the temptation of money is great. In this respect — it's just AWESOME, and you have to realize this to understand how it's even possible to live without money and create such music. You could probably count the bands like this on one hand that have survived to this day and are still creating masterpieces....
Author: yegor (December 25, 2008, 16:28)
I wrote something here, and then started reading the guestbook and here's what I found: - "Imagine for a minute such a thing! For example, if DDT, Chizh, Nepomnyashchy, Kino, and many others hadn't been propped up for fifteen years, where would they be? Oblachny Krai had no gigs for 15 years, their albums were released in minuscule print runs with the most basic covers and poor sound quality, and were only sold in 2 or 3 stores."
in this connection, it seems to me that the aforementioned groups (God rest their souls) started out sincerely and honestly, but then got "hooked" on the producer's "needle" and that was it. rock and roll was over. the conveyor belt started, the industry took over.
but "Krai" (and a few other bands) remained exactly the same as when I first heard them in 1982.
thank you for the music, the lyrics... and for not selling out.

very glad to be here, thanks for the example and the creativity. Good luck!
Reply: You hit the nail right on the head!!! I think about this exactly the same way; our talentless hacks mostly made excuses that something was holding them back, and you know exactly what gets in the way of a bad dancer! I wonder, what is stopping them from creating serious works now? Best regards, Igor Plenov.

It is strange to look for the best when the best is EVERYTHING. If the various styles across all albums by Sweden's TIAMAT are mere trend-hopping, then every song, every album, Oblachny Krai's entire discography is A HUGE EXPOSED NERVE, acutely sensitive to everything happening around it. O.K.'s music is for those who care. I believe I'm right, riiight...?
Reply: Krai truly has the best of everything!!! You are absolutely right; Oblachny Krai is the openly voiced troubles and pain of several generations, expressed sincerely, without pretension or distortion. Oblachny Krai is the most impressive band of the early 80s. You won't hear such a sincerely sarcastic take on human stupidity, wretchedness, and boorishness these days. And the expressive power achieved with minimal means is simply "killer." I listened to O.K. in 1982, and I still listen to them now. It's gratifying that my 23-year-old son also rates your work at the highest level.
Reply: Just imagine this for a moment! If bands like DDT, Chizh, Pompilius, Kino, and many others hadn't been promoted for fifteen years, where would they be? Oblachny Krai didn't perform live for 15 years; their albums were released in minuscule editions with the most basic covers and poor sound quality, and were only sold in 2 or 3 stores, unlike heavily promoted bands. Yet the group is still anticipated and loved by both their old admirers and new generations. Because O.K.'s music is sincere, straight from the soul, and not artificially contrived!! Igor Plenov

Greetings, Igor. The quality, compared to what I had before, is simply excellent!!! Thank you, you are doing a great job by restoring O.K.'s recordings. I never even dreamed that one day I would have a disc with the "Ubluzhya Dolya" album! Centuries will pass, but this album will never lose its relevance—it is a masterpiece. In Russian rock, you can count the albums of such power on one hand. I sincerely THANK YOU for your work!

Dear Igor, allow me to share some constructive feedback regarding the remastering of O.K. I understand the desire to boost the low frequencies, add some meat to the sound, and bring it as close as possible to modern standards. However, in my opinion, the low frequencies are overdone in some places, causing clipping. As a result, the arrangements lose their pristine quality and that sense of space that always characterized O.K.'s signature sound. This is especially noticeable on *Vershina Idiotizma*; I was forced to use equalization to listen to it on my home system, which I generally never do. Don't get me wrong—I am quite a fan of "fat bass" myself; Meshuggah, Mastodon—they are all on my playlist... But in the context of O.K., I would prefer to hear a more moderate, balanced boost in the lows than what was done, judging by the 1000plastinok website.
You can treat this opinion as private and off the record; I am not seeking any public attention, but I really wanted to express my thoughts, as I myself have been a long-time fan of O.K. Thank you for everything you do, and I wish you success in your work!
Reply: You can't judge the final sound entirely based on 1000 plastinok—those aren't the final master discs, because when I handed them over, I hadn't finished all the restoration work. The final masters will only be available on the official albums released by the ANTROP plant, and work is currently underway on all the early releases. By the way, the sound of the final masters is being coordinated with Sergey Bogayev, so we will do whatever he decides! Generally, it is difficult to base things on the original sound of the early O.K., if only because several different mix versions of the same albums were circulating among the people. Just listen closely to, for example, *Kh-Ya Samodeyatelnost* or *O.K. - 1*. This, of course, applies to the Arkhangelsk period of the band. My goal isn't just to crank up the bass, but to preserve the band's original sound while restoring the damaged parts and improving the overall audio quality—which, based on the feedback, is turning out quite successfully! Thank you for your attention!!! Best regards, Igor.

I must admit, at first "The Secrets of the Universe" didn't impress me much, so they made it into the playlist completely by accident along with Deep Purple and Yngwie Malmsteen, apparently instead of "TheWeddingMetalM", which I liked right away. I completely stumbled upon "Stremya and Lyudi" online and downloaded it. Listening to it again, 20 years later, I expected nothing more than a mild wave of nostalgia. But I ended up getting so blown away that I listen to it twice a day. Only today did I realize just how cool this was for that era. And for today's era, it's even more so. Excellently arranged, very professionally played. The lyrics of some songs about the Soviet reality are, in my opinion, still relevant today. Back in the middle of the "fun" 80s, they probably could have nailed you with Article 190 for them.
Thank you, guys! A 100% timeless masterpiece, a golden fund.

Hello, Igor.
Huge thanks for the website and the release of all OK albums.
I was among the first in Moscow to discover their work when, as a "tape trader," I received my next batch of reels from Piter, which included their first two albums. I sent hundreds of copies of these albums to regional recording studios. And one of the first articles about OK was published in the samizdat magazine "Urlicht," whose editorial board I was part of.
Anyway, that's just a preface—now down to business.
Three years ago, "Otdelenie Vyhod" decided to release the Podolsk87 DVD. Pit Kolupaev gave me the original cassettes, which I digitized, but for various reasons, the work on preparing it is still not finished.
In this footage, the duration of OK's performance is 29 min. 52 sec. I'm curious, is your digitization from this exact same cassette or a different version? Furthermore, I have a version filmed from the audience with a duration of 26 min., and another from the concert at the "DK MEI" in Moscow at the end of 1987, lasting 35 min. This material has never been released anywhere to date. Based on this footage, by overlaying good audio, we could easily edit and release a pretty good program. I also have color photos I took at Podolsk 87. Personally, for the last 10 years, I've also been digitizing and restoring audio and video recordings from my own collection and from what has survived among my "tape trader" friends. I would like to propose a collaboration in this area.
With great respect for your work, Vladimir Ivanov.

Hello!
I successfully received the ordered CDs the day before yesterday. I immediately tried listening to some of the old “O.K.” just to evaluate the sound quality for starters. I am very pleased! I didn't think I would ever get the chance to listen to this in proper quality. Thank you so much for the bonus disc (especially with an autograph)!
D. Dyakonov.

You write that you don't have an MP3 disc. But I bought such a disc 5 years ago. The disc includes 10 albums. The text on the disc says 2001 PMG RECORDS.
Reply: This disc has nothing to do with official releases

Hello.
I listened to the demos of the new album (2010) - very powerful sound, quite an interesting and diverse sound, well done. It seemed like there could have been a bit more lyrical content, as the verse repeats in some tracks. But maybe that's why they are demos, or perhaps that's the author's intent. I would like to ask:
1. Are any additional work and changes still being made to these versions?
2. When is the approximate release date?
3. Does the album have at least a working title at the moment?
Thank you for your work!
Reply: Work on the album is ongoing, there are a few titles, Sergey is thinking about which one to choose, but for now it's a secret, the exact release date is not specified, but it won't be long now. Best regards!

Hello O.K.! I've been listening to you since the albums "Ubluzhya Dolya" and "Stremya i Lyudi" (that's how it was written on the cassette), the albums are simply magnificent. Later I bought the vinyl "Svobody zahoteli?", I still keep the disc to this day. A couple of years ago I bought an MP3 collection of O.K. in "Soyuz" - my overall impression was good, but the recording quality, unfortunately, wasn't great. Recently I thought: it would be nice if they reissued the CDs, maybe cleaned up the recordings, because the sound wasn't very good. I see no alternative to you in this country, thank you for your songs, you are the best!!!
Reply: All albums have been remastered and can be purchased through our website. The sound on the new reissue is excellent.

Guys, there's nothing new on the site... where is Sergey?
He did such a cool job on "Patriot", the instrumental tracks are on air, but there are no new ones either, has Rautkin completely disappeared too? ....Seryoga sings awesomely on his own. Can you reply or what?
Reply: A new album is in the works, with very powerful lyrics!!! You can listen to the demo versions on VKontakte!

Hi guys! I was pleasantly surprised to find your site online. Great job. Back in the day, I got half of Lugansk (then Voroshilovgrad) hooked on your music. Nice to remember my youth: Severodvinsk, the garden, the veranda, port wine, the cassette player, Krays....

Ygyatta is a powerful album! The avant-garde of Russian heavy metal. Pass on my wishes for good health to Sergey, and that he continues to create for a long time to come. The country needs this kind of music and these lyrics. In you, there is and should continue to be a solid alternative to Aria and Epidemia.

Thanks for the music. Honestly, I was totally blown away when I heard the early recordings (and this was the very first thing by you guys that hit my ears)
To say it's powerful is an understatement

Hello!
I've been a huge fan of O.K. since 1984. After the army, a friend let me listen to "Secrets of the Forest" on a worn-out cassette tape. I was amazed; I'd never heard anything like it in our country before. I was especially blown away by S.B.'s guitar riffs, and his talent as a composer and sound engineer! It was even harder to believe that these guys were living and creating right next door. I'm from Severodvinsk myself. Later on, I also played in a band at ASTI and took part in the opening of the Arkhangelsk Rock Club, sharing the stage with "Alisa" and "O.K." Recently, while sorting through some old papers, I found newspaper clippings about "O.K." from "Severny Komsomolets" and other papers. If you happen not to have them, I'm ready to send them to your email. Thanks for your music! Best of luck!
Reply: Thank you, Arkady! That would be very useful for the band's history!

Could you tell me please, out of all your band's rare performances, is the only surviving video the one from Podolsk (1987), along with the "Concert at MPEI" which I hope will be released in the near future? Thanks for your attention.
Reply: Yes. Only those two concert performances have survived.

I second the Franciscan Monk's post!
I'm a huge fan of BG, Kinchev, and Tsoi, and Russian rock in general. But in the summer of '86, I heard "Stremya" and "Lyudi" on a cassette. And ever since then, you guys have been #1 to me!
And I only listened to you for one day, because that very same day, some drunks stole our boombox along with that cassette during a brawl. And I haven't heard anything else from you until today (well, things just didn't work out, I drifted away from rock back then, and in the 90s I had no time for music at all...)
But all these years I remembered Super-Chukcha, Kostya Perestukin, and Legavaya. I even figured out how to play that sad story on the guitar and would constantly belt it out at drinking parties (when I was a bit younger)))))
And it somehow never even crossed my mind to type O.K. into a search engine. But today I suddenly did...
Damn, it's almost 5 AM, and I'm sitting here and I can't tear myself away!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you, guys!
You're the best!!!!

Forgive my persistence—I always want to rub shoulders with talent. You could have at least given them the anthem for Afghanistan—you just need to ask someone to translate the lyrics. And I also have a dream to hear Putin singing Letov in a choir. Yeah...

I seem to recall Anthrax was in the opening credits of some show like International Panorama, so why don't you guys become famous abroad? Finally, I want to pitch another cheap idea or question - would the band consider doing some composing practice and sending out sheet music for recorders, etc., to children's and foreign music schools? You know, I'm going deaf and blind already, but otherwise I could still listen to you and remember you. Sorry if anything, and don't be sad. Happy New Year.

Dear friends!
For the anniversary of Sergey's death, let's put
an obelisk on his grave that is worthy
of his talent and enormous contribution to rock music.
For my part, I am ready to fully finance
this noble endeavor.
Reply: Igor, the funds have been received. A huge thank you from Sergey's family, from Nikolay Lyskovsky, Oleg Rautkin, and from all the fans of Oblachny Krai for your invaluable help!

I DON'T WANT TO BELIEVE IT! THAT HE IS GONE AND WE HAVE LOST HIM! ALTHOUGH MUSIC LIVES FOREVER AND THAT MEANS HE WILL ALWAYS BE WITH US THROUGH IT! WE WILL LISTEN TO OBLACHNY KRAI, CREATED BY HIM AND HIS COMRADES!
HE HAS NOT LEFT, BUT MERELY MOVED TO ANOTHER REALITY, PERHAPS NOT AS CRUEL AS OUR WORLD!
